To Protect, Maintain, and Enhance each of the unique environmental characteristics

that make up our Mangawhai Harbour, Estuary, and Coastal Beaches

to achieve a greater  Community Environmental Asset

  • Bird nesting habitat protection and enhancement

  • Marine life enhancement, fish and shellfish

  • Surrounding vegetation growth, management, and enhancement

  • Community recreational lifestyle for swimming, fishing, boating, and estuary walkways

HOME: What We Do

The work of the MHRS involves maintaining the harbour and bund wall, wind fencing and planting to stabilise
the sand dunes, restore the wildlife refuge and manage mangrove growth.
